When it comes to work, many people probably don’t have to worry about getting injured or dying from it. If you go to work and the only problem you have to worry about is getting the job done, then you are probably lucky. Some people go to their workplace and have to worry literally for their life and limb while getting the job done. These people have to wear a safety harness for most of their job hours so they lessen the risk of facing injury. If you’re curious to know which jobs need a harness and a fall arrest system, here are a few samples to keep you informed.

Tree trimmers

Have you ever wondered how it is possible that trees in your city or neighbourhood remain the same height each year? The answer is because your city council provides the workforce that ensures the trees get trimmed at some point. The city council employs some road safety workers to make sure trees don’t get to obstruct anything.

These workers usually work the same working hours you do so you really don’t notice them. If you have an office job that requires work from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. daily, chances are you miss seeing them trimming or cutting down some tree branches. They are also the ones responsible for cleaning and loading cut branches and fallen leaves on a truck.

These employees need to wear fall arrest systems during the cutting process to ensure their safety. Many tree trimmers have to work while on an elevated platform that could be as high as or higher than the tree, so they need to wear a safety harness. Some workers will put on a harness too in case they need to climb a tree even without using a platform.

Window washers

Window washing may not sound like a very exciting job if you are only doing it at home but think about the people who have to do it on skyscrapers. The wind’s velocity coupled with the heights a person can see while doing some washing can certainly get anyone’s adrenaline pumping. Work safety regulations require window washers to wear a safety harness as they do their jobs. Without the harness, they could fall over anytime and experience serious injuries or even death.

Theatre performers

If you think working in a theatre is the safest job anyone could have, then think again because some theatre performers may not think so. Some theatres present productions involving adventures that have some actors in the show to wear a safety harness when they have to perform stunts. Other productions display acrobatic performances so a performer may have to wear a harness throughout the entire stage production.

The mentioned jobs are only some examples of jobs needing a harness and a fall arrest system while at work. If you’re still curious to know where these types of equipment will apply, then read on more resources online or some published works to satisfy your curiosity. The internet and your local library have many reading resources you can use and learn from so start clicking away or turning the pages.
